Now, I think there are very few people who mistakenly stumble across my humble little page, but for anyone that does, I have somewhat of a challenge/creative exercise, that you may find fun to do. And as I write an insanely small amount of journals, due to long periods paying no attention, this may be up long enough to get two or three replies! (w00t )

I have recently returned to devART from a year's absence. For the past few days, I have spent some time browsing pages and pages of new poem deviations submitted to devArt to see what kinds of things people were writing these days. Without even reading the entirety of the poems, only the first few lines in the little previews, I was intrigued by how these few lines from maybe a hundred poems contained the same words over and over.

Now my own poems (and more so the older and older you go) actually use these words quite a bit as well, and perhaps they are used so frequently because they are powerful words. However, sometimes, methinks, they might be used because they are easy to use, and we, as human beings, are naturally too lazy to think up new ways of expressing ourselves.

So as a little creative exercise, for anyone out there looking to improve, expand, etc. their writing, try the following:

1) Write a poem using as many of the words from the following list as you can.

2) Write a poem using NONE of the words from the list.
